Lowry R. "Chic" Davis

Lowry R. "Chic" Davis, 91, of McCordsville, passed away peacefully April 26, 2008 in Greenfield. He was born April 3, 1917 in Blacksburg, VA to the late Charles T. and Ocie (Richardson) Davis. Chic had been a Hancock County farmer, had worked for Leary Brothers Bottled Gas Co. for 20 years and worked at the Mt. Vernon High School in the maintenance department for 10 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Fortville Church of the Nazarene and a former semi-pro baseball player in Colorado who enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing softball. He was a Little League baseball coach for many years. Chic is survived by children: Allan (wife Helen) Davis of McCordsville; Evangeline R. (husband Dr. Joe) Quigley of Indianapolis; Phil M. (wife Kayra) Davis of McCordsville; Mary Rose (husband Tom) Crickmore of Pendleton; 12 grandchildren: Tracy, Jennifer, Brian, Christopher, Renee, Matt, Joy, Amy, Myra, Zak, Stephen, Tim; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Lawrence Davis, Harmon Davis, Emmit Davis, Nalvin Davis, Dale Davis, Marie Gadberry, Arlene Merchant, Geraldine Perkins, and Clifford Davis, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by wives Ruth (Price) Davis, Beulah Wrigley Davis and Dora Dickey Davis; siblings Bertha Lee Sharp, Mary Lou McDonald, Lorene Edward and Andy Davis.

Funeral Information

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. A Celebration of Chic's Life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Fortville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Phil Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
