Ricky Jay O’Neil, 64, of Knightstown, IN passed away November 9, 2017.

Rick was born on April 8th, 1953 to Sara Jane (Webber) O’Neil and James Wilson O’Neil.  He is survived by his father, Jim (Pam) O’Neil, daughter Nicole (Ryan) McCloud, son Ryan O’Neil, granddaughters: Cassie Whisler and Brooklyn McCloud, sister Kathy (Ed) Stevens, sister Deadra (Mike) White, brother Pat (Annette) O’Neil, and sister Shona (Paul) Bonin.

Rick loved cars, guns, t-shirts, hats, Mountain Dew, the 3 Stooges, the Beatles, Necco, Walmart, Cracker Barrel, cute women and driving fast.  He loved playing cards, playing pool, telling jokes, going to auctions and collecting antiques, toys and oddities.  He was a big prankster that reveled in getting a big reaction out of people.  He loved scaring people on Halloween.  He was a meticulous Christmas decorator in his younger days.  He spent most of his time sitting on his couch watching movies as loud as his surround sound would go!

Rick liked to collect swords, mannequins, old spoons, magazines, road signs, Hot Wheels, old tools, antique toys, Star Wars, Knightstown memorabilia, Barbies, cool bottles, and random crap most of us would throw out.  But he was very proud of his collection.

Rick hated getting dressed up, people touching his treasures or moving them around, and wearing his false teeth!

Rick could regularly be seen walking into a restaurant in town and buying everyone’s dinner.  He enjoyed having coffee with the older men around town early in the morning, just sitting and talking with them for hours.  He really liked to hear about the history of things (towns, items, lives).  He would always tell you how it is, and loved his swear words!  He retired from the phone company and was always known as “The Phone Man.”

He was loved by his family and friends, who would like to provide him a proper farewell.
