Obituary: Glenn H. Jarrett

Glenn H. Jarrett

December 30, 1919 - July 28, 2008

Glenn Harvey Jarrett, 88, formerly of Pendleton, Indiana and Naples, Florida died on Monday, July 28, 2008. He had recently lived in Bryson City, North Carolina to be near his daughters. Glenn was born December 30, 1919 in Hancock County, Indiana to Beatrice Irene (Kelley) Jarrett and Everett Harvey Jarrett. He was the great-grandson of Neriah and Mary Margaret Jarrett who pioneered Hancock County in 1833. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia (Jarrett) McClarney and his wife Doris (Logan) Blueher Jarrett.

Survivors include his daughter Ann Jarrett and husband James K. Clarke, his step-daughter Pamela (Blueher) Motsinger and husband Richard all of Bryson City, North Carolina. Also surviving him are two brothers Charles Jarrett and wife Brenda of Tipton and Richard Jarrett and wife Evelyn of Noblesville as well as many nieces and nephews.

Glenn graduated from Fortville High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and arrived in France on D-Day +4. He was a member of the Fortville V.F.W. and American Legion Posts. Glenn was a Tool and Die Maker employed by Delco Remy Division of General Motors Corporation and a proud member of UAW Local 662. He retired in 1982 after 40 years of service. He was able to spend 22 winters at Enchanting Shores Coop in sunny Florida and enjoyed winning bowling, pool, cards, horseshoe and shuffleboard tournaments. He was an avid sportsman including twenty-six years of Canadian hunting and fishing.

Funeral Information

A Celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10 am at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Friends may call on Thursday, July 31, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
