Richard D. Schmidt, 79, of Ingalls, died February 6, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Schmidt was born May 22, 1929 in Detroit, MI. He was a U.S. Postal worker, retiring on August 1, 1989. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Richard is survived by one son, Gary (Connie) Schmidt of Greenfield; daughters, Linda (George) Hedrick of Noblesville, and Vicki (Mike) Fitzgerald of Oaklandon; six grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Schmidt and Laura Minnick; wife, Shirley Schmidt, grandson Geoffrey Hedrick and brother Kenneth Schmidt.

Friends may call on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 2 to 4 pm at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Private family services will take place.
