Claude A. “Bud” Forth, Jr., 76, of Indianapolis, passed away August 23, 2008 at Community Hospital North. He was born June 9, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late Claude A. and Eulamay (Heiny) Forth. He attended grade school at IPS schools 38 and 51 and graduated from Warren Central High School in June 1950. He was enrolled at Purdue University in the Engineering School; however since he had enlisted in the Marine Corps reserves during his senior year, he headed for San Diego Training Camp instead of Purdue. He was shipped from San Diego to Korea where he served as a radio operator directing fire power. He was honorably discharged from the Marines on April 12, 1952. He was extremely proud of having served as a Marine. He went to work for his father at Brookside Corp. in McCordsville immediately after returning from the military. Bud cared for his employees and knew 99% of them by name and tried to greet them every day. He retired in 1996 when the business was sold. In the 1960s and 70s he was an active member of the Fortville Chamber of Commerce and served as president and also on the Board of Directors. He was also a past member of the Fortville Lions Club. In the 1980s he served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Starlight Musicals at Butler University Brown Theatre. Bud was a member of the Post Road Christian Church, member of the Fortville F & AM Lodge No. 207, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Murat Shrine, Murat Shrine Veteran Car Club, Packard Club of Indiana, Historic Auto Club of Indiana and the Indiana Region Classic Car Club of America. He loved to travel and had been in 46 different countries around the world and all of the United States. His favorite was the Island of Santorini off the coast of Greece. Bud’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Dorothy (Ferguson) Forth; children: Kevin (Brenda) Forth; Rhonda Forth Musselman; Pamela Forth; Suzy Forth (Kevin) Zeller; grandchildren: Nikki Forth, Benjamin Forth, Eric Beeman, Jessica Musselman (Justin) Lowder, Ashley Musselman (fiancé Adam Schultz), Cody Musselman, Zhana Forth, Alicia Zeller, Hannah Zeller, Ross Zeller; great-grandchildren: Haley Lowder and Drew Lowder; sister: Janet (Jerry) Ferguson. He was preceded in death by sister Judy Bogle. Funeral InformationA celebration of Bud’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10 am at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Masonic memorial rites will be performed by the Fortville F & AM Lodge No. 207 at 7:30 pm Tuesday. Burial will take place at Washington Park East with military graveside rites.
