Charles “Val” Ake, 83, of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born July 1, 1936 in Hartford City, Indiana to Gerald W. and Marjorie (Gosnell) Ake. Val graduated from Hartford City High School and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He was a member of the Fortville Church of the Nazarene. Val was a member of the Teamsters and a retired truck driver. He also drove a school bus for Hamilton Southeastern High School, Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation and the Fortville Church of the Nazarene.
Val is survived by wife Della (Morrison) Ake; children: Susan (Laura) Ake of CA; Vaughn C. “Charlie” (Debbie) Ake of Fortville; LaVonne L. (Mark Hayden) Bohannon of Fortville; Tina L. (Rob) Jackson of Greenfield; grandchildren: Chris Jackson, Travis (Allison) Burnett, Wes Bowling, Nathan (Cara) Jackson, 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Myrna (Jim) Davis and Jean A. Ake as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary W. Ake.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Val’s life will begin at 7:00 pm following the visitation. Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
