Dawn Suzanne Evans, 59, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Homosassa, FL on Friday, January 18, 2019. She was born on May 1, 1959 in Anderson, IN to George (Royce) and Suzanne Hagan. She graduated from Anderson High School and Ball State University.
She worked as an accountant for many years and later taught accounting and business at Indiana Business College in Anderson. She married Jeffrey Evans of Anderson on July 10, 1982. Dawn and her family lived in Anderson, Yorktown, IN, and Ludington, MI before she retired with her husband to Florida. She was a swim coach in Ludington for more than 10 years and was an active volunteer on numerous committees and charitable organizations. In the communities in which she lived, it was known by all that if you needed a responsible and caring volunteer, Dawn was the go-to person. She was an avid reader, gardener, and DIY-er, all while continuing to nurture her children and grandchildren through daily Facetime and phone calls. She was also intensely interested in politics, and had visited numerous presidential libraries, national monuments, and national parks.
Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Royce. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey, her children Ryan (Sara) Evans of Greenfield, IN, Katie (Ryan) Russell of Kalamazoo, MI, and Jordan Evans of Cookeville, TN, and her grandchildren, Olivia and Logan Evans and Lucas, Greyson, and Austin Russell. She is also survived by her mother, Suzanne Hagan, of Pendleton, IN, her sisters, Anne Hagan (Kevin Kilcoyne) of Philadelphia, PA and Michelle Hagan-Short (Alan Short) of Huntington, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends whose lives Dawn touched are invited to Seals Funeral Home, 122 West Staat Street, Fortville, IN from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 to celebrate her life with a visitation followed by family remembrances. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton, IN, immediately followed by a luncheon provided by Evening Star and Spring Valley Quilt Guilds.
