James Yager, Jr., 69, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 2, 1949 in Indianapolis to James and Edna B. (Gaines) Yager. Jim retired from Indianapolis Public Schools as a custodian in 2005 after 35 years’ service. He was a U.S. Army veteran having service in the 101st Airborne during Vietnam earning two bronze stars.
Jim is survived by wife Linda (Bainter) Yager, whom he married May 6, 1972 at the Fortville Christian Church; sons: Gregory S. Yager of Indianapolis; Jeffrey A. (Kristina) Yager of Franklin; grandchildren: Jalen, Peyton, Kyle and Aydin Yager; brothers: Milford G. (Becky) Yager and Richard H. (Pat) Naylor; sister: Darlene Bray; sisters-in-law: Judy (Carl) Hickle and Janice Bainter Threet; brothers-in-law: Donald (Karen) Whiteside and Carmel Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his parents: brothers: William and Ronnie Yager and sister-in-law Debbie Vaughn.
Friends may all on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
