Jimmy L. Taylor, 79, of Fortville, passed away November 14, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born November 25, 1939 at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis to Willie and Katherine (Wakeland) Taylor. Jimmy retired as a Lieutenant from the City of Lawrence Police Department after 26 years of service. He then went to work for Simon Properties in the security department and later retired from there after 20 years of service. Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran. He liked playing penny slots, liked to make everyone laugh and collected coins. His wife Connie, said “He never did anything to make me cry.”
Jimmy is survived by his wife Connie (Skaggs) Taylor, whom he married February 14, 1997; son: Ronald (Jivrales) Taylor of Lawrence; stepdaughters: Crystal (Tracy) Bills of Fortville and Mindi (Rob) McKeeman of Greenfield; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Don Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Bill Taylor, Margie Quick and Barbara Benge.
A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville with the City of Lawrence Police Department ceremony. Friends may call on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial with Military Rites will be held at Gravel Lawn Cemetery following the services.
