John B. White

February 16, 1919 - May 26, 2008

John B. White, 89, died May 26, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born February 16, 1919 in Hancock County to the late Charles and Alma (Trees) White. He was a 1936 graduate of the old Westland High School in Hancock County. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for MSD of Lawrence Twp., retiring in 1989 after over 20 years of service. He continued to garden and his interests included John Deere tractors and Model A cars. A highlight of his recent years was getting to ride in an original Model A. Mr. White was a member of the Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church and loved his family and farm. He is survived by his wife, Wanda M. (Thomas) White of McCordsville, whom he married on March 23, 1946 in McCordsville; daughter, Sheryl (Don) Denney of West Baden, IN; daughters, Janet (Ray) Hansen and Becky (David) Brannon, both of Summerville, SC; and granddaughter, Lori (Ralph) Walker and great-granddaughter, Chelsea Walker, both of Cumberland.

Funeral Information

Friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. A Celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, May 30 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
