Joseph Rex Boerner, 77, of Morgantown, passed away August 25, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 22, 1942 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Frances and Teresa (Swindell) Boerner. Joe was a 50-year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 440, where he was a service fitter. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion Post 230, loved riding his Harley-Davidson and dancing the two-step.
Joe is survived by his children: Deanna (Jason Elias) Smith of Morgantown, Jodi (James) Bullock of Morgantown, and Michael (Kari) Boerner of Franklin; grandchildren, Shelby (Joe) Yates, Rachel Smith, Zachary Smith, Sarah (Landon) Sturgeon, Aaron Bullock, Brandi Bullock, Evan Bullock, Corbin Boerner, and Brianna Boerner; great-grandchildren, Willow, Huxley, Josie, Ezra and Quinn; and a sister, Terri (Jack) Woolum of Anderson; step-children: Angie Reynolds, Chris Reynolds and Jeff Reynolds.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife Marica Ann (Allen) Boerner.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home in Fortville, IN. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, 3500 DePauw Blvd., Suite 2070, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
