Mrs. Merritt was my 7th grade English/Language teacher. I won a writing award and it was to be presented to me at a dinner. My parents had no interest in taking me so Mrs. Merritt picked me up and took me to the ceremony. I still remember that act as one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me. She was the epitome of a good teacher. I'm sorry for your family's loss.

Mrs.Merritt was a teacher of mine in 1975. I came from a poor family and alot of my classmates were attending Hanover b-ball camp that summer. I could not afford to go and she awarded me with a 50 dollar schlorship out of her hard earned money. I will never forget her for that and will always try to be generous to other people in need because of her. So sorry for your loss, she was a wonderful teacher and person as well. Sorry I could not make it to her celebration of life tonight.

I'm not sure if this is the same Maryann Merritt but I know she had children named Jay and Jenny when we were growing up across the street. (Day family) If this is, I'm sorry to hear of her passing. May God be with you all and give you comfort and peace. My mother passed away over 21 years ago and we know the pain you are in. Lean on Him and he will give you all the strength you need. Blessings to all -

THE LORD IS WITH YOU "The Lord makes so many good things happen in our lives that we might think He's abandoned us when sorrow comes along But the Lord knows when we are hurting, and it's then that He draws closer to us, in our sorrow, We may not feel his presence, but that doesn't change His promise to be with us, and we may not understand, but He doesn't ask us to, All He asks is that we trust Him" In Sympathy Ray and Kathy Heaton

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Mrs. Merritt when I attended Mt. Vernon Middle School. I wasn't doing very well in school, and for some reason, Mrs. Merritt knew I could do better. She offered to stay after school with me everyday and tutor me. With her help, my grades improved. I will be forever grateful for her helping hand. She has always had a special place in my heart and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
