Norbert H. "Nub" Roeder, 85, of Fortville, passed away Thursday February 22, 2018 in Anderson. He was born January 24, 1933, to Carl and Cecelia (Geisken) Roeder. Nub attended Cathedral High School and worked over 30 years at Chrysler, Shadeland Avenue Plant, and was a member of the local UAW. He played fast pitch softball at both Municipal and Englehardt ball parks. He was an avid golfer playing in the men's club at most of the Indianapolis golf courses. He was an excellent bowler including a perfect 300 game. Nub's favorite activity, besides family activities and get-togethers, was probably his workout routine. He began lifting weights in his late teens at Hoffmeister Gym in Indianapolis and during those early years was named "Mr. Stomach Muscles". He continued lifting weights up to the day before his passing.
Nub is survived by his wife Shirley (Eaton) Roeder, whom he married July 17, 1959, daughter Debbie Roeder of Indianapolis, sons, Mike (Dionne) Roeder of Muncie and Rob Roeder of Fortville; grandsons Justin (Amanda) Roeder and Madison Roeder; brothers, Don (Mary) Roeder of MI, and Chuck (Jocelyn) Roeder of CA; and his cat Kitty.
The family will celebrate Nub's life with a reception on Saturday, March 10, 2018, from 1 to 5 pm in the community room of Seals Funeral Home, 122 W. Staat Street, Fortville.
