Vera Jean Harris, 86, passed away January 7, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born November 26, 1931 in Tampa, FL to the late John and Dorothy (Shaw) Chance.  She retired from Brockway Glass in Lapel after 30 years’ service.  She enjoyed crocheting and reading James Patterson novels.  Vera was a charter member of the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4323.

Vera is survived by daughter: Jeanmeen Holldiay, son Jack Chance; granddaughter and caregiver Rae (Phillip) Powell, additional grandchildren: Leslie Douglas, Michelle Chance and Jack Chance, Jr.; great grandchildren: Josh Bilbrey, Zach Phillips, Spencer Powell, Taylor Bruce, Katelyn Powell; 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers: John Chance, Jr. and Jimmy Chance; sister Frances Tackett.  She was preceded in death by husband Saul Harris, brother Richard Chance and sister Beverly Griffin.

Per Vera's request cremation has taken place.  There will be no services.  Seals Funeral Home, Fortville has been entrusted with Vera's care.  Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
