Yevonne Raines, 98, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born August 15, 1919 in Anderson, IN to Tillman and Estella (Morris) Taylor. Yevonne worked at the former Post Restaurant in Pendleton, the cafeteria at Hancock Central High School, and owned the Colonial Restaurant in Fortville, beginning in 1964. She was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she loved cooking, gardening, sewing, playing Scrabble, and reading.
Yevonne is survived by her daughters, Jean Reuter and Marcia Cook, both of Fortville; grandchildren, MSgt (Ret) Jeff (Claudia) Cook of Front Royal, VA, Dana Fippen of Fortville, USAF Veteran Deanna (CMSgt (Ret) Terry) Neuharth of Rapid City, SD, Tony (Sue) Raines of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Angie Biggs of Evansville, IN, daughter-in-law Sue Raines Mohlke; 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leland Raines in 1981, son Keith Raines in 1984, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.
Friends may call on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Yevonne’s life will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home where friends may call from 10:00 am until the service begins. Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery, Pendleton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
