Alice R. Turney, 98, of McCordsville, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 24, 1922 in Somerset, Kentucky to John W. and Lula (Decker) Wallen. Alice was an active member of the McCordsville United Methodist Church. She had been a waitress at Downing’s Restaurant in Fortville for 5 years, was a homemaker and owned Alice’s Antiques & Stripping in McCordsville.
Alice is survived by her husband Jim Turney, whom she married August 26, 1961; sons Wayde and David Turney-Bozell, daughter Ina Mae Koors, grand-children Talulah Alice Turney-Bozell, David Rhodes, Johnny Cloud, Brant Kercheval, Bryan Kercheval, Rick Kercheval, six great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by daughters: Betty Cloud and Charlotte Wilson, brothers Bill Wallen, James Wallen, sisters Velma Kinnaman, Linnie Anderson and Hazel Rhodes.
A private funeral service for family and invited guests will be held at the McCordsville United Methodist Church of Thursday, January 28, 2021. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville following the funeral service. A Celebration of Alice's life that will include the community will take place at a later date.
