Betty J. Eiler, 91, of Fortville passed away at home on Sunday, September 23, 2022. She was born August 22, 1931, in Lapel, IN to Lester and Eloise (Givens) Dunham. Betty was a member of member of Ford Street United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and was a Girl Scout Leader. She and her husband did many mission trips to Oklahoma and Kentucky. Betty enjoyed crocheting and cooking her famous sourdough rolls for family gatherings.
Betty retired from the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation after working in the cafeteria at Fortville Elementary. She had also worked at the Pendleton Telephone Company shortly after graduating from Lapel High School.
Betty is survived by her husband Wilbur, whom she married February 22, 1953, children: Dale (Becky) Eiler of McCordsville, Melinda (Larry) Jackson of Fortville and Claresea (Chuck) Turner of Lakeside, CA; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and sister Iris Parker of Huntsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, listed above, brother Robert Dunham, a grandson and a nephew.
A funeral to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Food Pantry 741 N. Main Street Greenfield, IN 46140.
