Betty Lou (Willits) (Ellis) Lane, 96, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Rawlins House in Pendleton. She was born July 29, 1927, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Roy and Edith (Ballard) Willits. Betty was a 1945 graduate of Fortville High School. She was an active member of Fortville Christian Church. She served as the church secretary from 1992 until her retirement in 2007.  Prior to being the church secretary, Betty was a pharmacy technician at Hancock Regional Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1991.

Betty is survived by children: Beverly (Mike) Burns of Pendleton, Ray (Dewenia) Ellis of Lynn and Robert (Cara) Ellis of Fortville; stepchildren: Robert (Debbie) Lane of McCordsville and Paula Lane of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, 12 great step-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband Eugene Ellis in 1974 and second husband Paul K. Lane in 2000, grandson Joseph Ellis, stepson Darryl Lane as well as sisters Ruth Ann Hall, Mary Johnson, Peggy Kendrick Hudson and Catherine Hudson.

Friends may call on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A funeral to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at the Fortville Christian Church on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
