Carl "Gene" Cain

Carl “Gene” Cain, 90, of Shirley, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Westminster Village North.  He was born May 10, 1930 in Strawtown, IN to Roy L. and Mary Kathleen (Mandabach) Cain.  Gene was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Medical Corps.  He was a life-long farmer and had also been an over the road truck driver. 

Gene is survived by children: Jeanie Poole of Fortville and Don (Cindy) Cain of Shirley; grandchildren: Denise (Jerry) Dane, Brad (Starr) Cain, Kathy (Jason) Poole Christ and Heather Poole Miles; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wives Margaret Ann Cain and Lois Keaton Cain, grandson Jason Scott Cain, parents and brothers David Cain and Roy J. Cain.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A funeral to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
