Carmel Vaughn, 75, of McCordsville, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born August 1, 1948, in Monticello, Ky to Carson C. and Mae (Jones) Vaughn. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Carmel retired from General Motors/Allison Transmission as a machinist. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was of the Baptist faith.
Carmel is survived by siblings: Mildred and Carl Vaughn both of Indianapolis, sisters-in-law Janice Threet of Cookeville, TN and Judy (Carl) Hickle of Fortville, Karen Whiteside of FL and Victoria Sharp of IA, nephews Chris Whiteside, Greg Yager, Jeff Yager, Jeremy Hickle and Joshua Hickle, nieces Shannon Hull and Michelle Early, great nephew Rylend Hickle, great nieces Oaklyn and Wynonna Hickle.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Vaughn, his parents, brother Donald Whiteside and sister-in-law Linda Yager.
A funeral to celebrate Carmel’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial with military honors will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
