Carolyn Elaine (Wilson) Ireton, 84, of Ingalls, passed away at her home Sunday, July 16, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1939, in Ingalls, Indiana to Jesse and Dorothy (Bond) Wilson.
Carolyn was a 1957 graduate of Fortville High School and worked at the former Western Electric plant for over 25 years and the Ingalls Liquor Store, she also waited tables at Downing’s Old Trail in Pendleton and the Broadway Diner in Fortville. She enjoyed playing BINGO and going to the casino, visiting Nashville, TN, especially the Grand Ole Opry, and bus trips to Branson, MO. She had been a member of the Ingalls Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Brenda (Dave) Smith of Markleville and her son Brian (Becky) Ireton of Pendleton; grandchildren: Steven Smith, Allison (Mat White) Smith, Brandon Ireton, and Brooklyn (Shane Youngman) Ireton; special niece Justina (Justin Parks) Combs; siblings Sandra Fulk of Anderson, Vickey Rule of Chesterfield, and Tammie (Russ Clark) Wilson of Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Myron “Planky” Ireton and her parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A funeral to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
