Carolyn Jenkins Obituary

Carolyn Sue Jenkins, 86, of Fortville, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Hamilton Trace, in Fishers, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Anderson, Indiana September 16, 1934 to the late Norris and Martha (Cornelius) Suiter.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted son Matthew (Joani) Jenkins of Fortville. Her cherished grandchildren are Kyle (Chelsea) Wilson of Monmouth, Illinois, Tyler (Amber) Wilson of Oxford, Ohio, Ashley (Chris Sanders) Jenkins of Fortville, and Abagael Jenkins of Indianapolis. Great-grandchildren are Kadience, Hadley, and Kendall Wilson. Son-in-law Kris Wilson (Mary Knecht) of Brookville.

She is also survived by her siblings James (Sydney) Suiter, Linda Downey, Sara Ashby, Phillip (Chris) Suiter. Nieces and nephews Betsy Onofrey, Mindy Long, James Suiter, Kari Haines, Debbie Mitchell, Tim Petty, Heather Wakley, Jennifer Williams, Melissa Phillips, Phillip Suiter, along with their wonderful spouses and children, and numerous cousins.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband of nearly 60 years Francis S. “Bud” Jenkins, Jr., daughter Lisa Wilson, and nephew Tom Petty.

Carolyn graduated from Fortville High School in 1952. She attended Ball State University before marrying Bud in March of 1955. Carolyn was a homemaker, and for several years worked part-time at the Community Shopper for dear family friends Dick and Sherry Collins. She was a member of the Cyntheanne Christian Church, and truly enjoyed fellowship with the congregation. She was an Honorary Retired member of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Carolyn was a voracious reader and talented seamstress. She enjoyed working in the yard, attending birthday dinners with her siblings, and taking care of her home and family.

More than anything Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. To them, “Grammer and Gramper” were a constant presence at all sporting events and activities. They remember the historical trips she planned, multiple meals at MCL, how she always knew the names of their friends, and the homemade Halloween costumes she designed and sewed; all memories they will treasure forever.

Carolyn’s family would like to thank the Fortville community, friends, church members, and neighbors for their support and kindness. She so enjoyed the many cards and flowers she received throughout the years. Friends may visit the family on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 11:30 am until the time of service at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.
