Charles “Chuck” Lumpkin, 76, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, following a brief illness. Charles was born October 28, 1945, in New Castle to Ruby (Green) and Paul Lumpkin and raised in Mt. Summit, IN. He attended Ball State University in Muncie, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, and graduated in 1969. He continued his education at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH where he lived from 1969 to 1973.
Chuck spent the first several years of his career as a teacher in Cincinnati and in Boggstown, IN and was a leader in youth sports and Boy Scouts. He then changed career paths and enjoyed a long career in hospitality management in Indianapolis.
Chuck loved sports, especially Cincinnati Reds baseball; his dogs; cooking; fishing; music; art; reading; and many friends accumulated over a lifetime of different experiences.
He leaves behind an older brother, Larry, daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Milliken, son Scott (Amanda) Lumpkin, nephews Dave (Jonni) Lumpkin and Andy (Sebrena) Lumpkin, three grandchildren, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, Oct. 14 from 5-7pm at Seals Funeral Home, 122 W Staat St., Fortville, IN. In lieu of flowers, those who would like to honor Chuck are invited to make a memorial donation to their local humane society.
