Donald E. Denger, 94, of Greenfield, formerly of Fortville, passed away September 28, 2023, in Pendleton. He was born December 29, 1928, in Brookville, IN to Leslie George and Gladys (Carlson) Denger. Don was a 1946 graduate of the old Fortville High School.
Don was a retired concrete contractor. He owned his own concrete company and was also a member of the Plasters and Cement Masons Union Local #692. Don served on the Fortville Town Board for 2 terms, was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church, had been an elder and Sunday school teacher at Fortville Christian Church and a past member of Fall Creek Christian Church for 23 years. He flew airplanes for 13 years, was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Don is survived by daughter Dianne Bennett of Greenfield, sons Steven “Ned” Denger of Fortville and Joseph Denger of Greenfield, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren and also sister Patsy Isles. He was preceded in passing by his wife Peggy E. (Hudson) Denger, daughter Betsy Hardymon, son Robert Denger, sisters Norma Webb and Beverly Jeffries, brothers Lowell, Art, Charles and Kenneth Denger.
A funeral to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to Park Chapel Christian Church 1176 E. McKenzie Road Greenfield, IN 46140. Online condolences maybe shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
