Donna Paxton Obituary

Donna (Dinger) Paxton 89, of Greenfield passed away August 17, 2021, at Springhurst Nursing Home in Greenfield.  She was born June 12, 1932, in Rhinelander, WI to the late Clifford & Helena (Bloomquist) Dinger. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and went to family reunions, including two in Sweden.

Donna graduated from McCordsville High School and went on to marry the love of her life, William (Bill) Paxton, in 1950. They enjoyed over 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. They celebrated their 50 years with a full family cruise that left a lifetime of memories for all. Donna worked for the USDA – Agriculture Stabilization & Conservation Services working with local landowners and farmers to help with programs concerning farm products and ag conservation. She also worked for Fortville Electric for many years. She was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church.

Donna spent many years as a volunteer at the Hancock Regional Hospital. She was a 4-H fair board member and told stories of selling tickets at the fair carnival. She enjoyed being a member of a bowling league for several years and square dancing with the “Riley Wranglers”. She was a member of ABWA American Business Women’s Association, an avid reader, talented with rug hooking using wool and each family member has received a piece of her rug hooking over the years. She established the rug hooking exhibitors at the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village and enjoyed sharing the skills she learned with those who stopped by. She was a longtime “snowbird” resident with her husband at the Davenport Park in Haines City, FL.  She and her husband Bill enjoyed their time and winter friends there for over 35 years. Donna was  a member of the Psi lota Xi Sorority, but more than all of this, her family was her world and she loved every moment she had with them.
