J. C. Jenkins, age 87, of Fortville, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2026. He was born on February 22, 1938, in Canton, Mississippi, to the late Robert and Clara (Lilly) Jenkins.

J. C. was a hardworking man who spent his career as a steel mill foreman in Gary, Indiana, known for his dedication, strength, and pride in providing for his family and community. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister and brother‑in‑law, Sherrill and Willie Garth of Fortville, who remained faithfully by his side with love and support, his brother, Melvin S. Jenkins, and a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by loved ones who have gone before him, including his wife, Irene Jenkins, and his siblings, Mattie R. Harvey, Loucille Day, Louise Lloyd, Ruby Bracken, Robert Jr. Jenkins, Eugene Jenkins, James Edward Jenkins, and Mary Lou Hawkins. 

A Homegoing Celebration honoring the life of J. C. Jenkins will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 12:00 P.M., at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 122 W. Staat Street, Fortville. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A repast meal will follow the services.

J. C.’s life and legacy will continue to live on through the love of his family and the memories of all who knew him.
