He married the love of his life, Mary Alice (Oakleaf) Rapp on June 21, 1952. Their 69-year marriage was one for the storybooks. They have 1 daughter, Lisa Stout (Fortville), 1 son, David Rapp (Newark, Ohio), 3 granddaughters, Kellen Stout (Fortville), Chanda Rapp (Heath, Ohio), Abbie Shepherd (Newark, Ohio), 1 grandson, Jacob Rapp (Granville, Ohio) and 9 great grandchildren.

He loved antique cars, mowing the lawn, woodworking, fixing anything that was broken, spending time with family and telling the best stories. He also loved overseeing the neighborhood on his scooter, talking to all of the neighbors and sitting on the front porch. He never met a stranger and always had something good to say about everyone. He enjoyed helping others and was always there to offer a hand or words of advice. He was such a positive light in the lives of the people that surrounded him.
