James Haygood, 86, of Ingalls, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1934 in Lapel, Indiana.
James worked for Delco Remy in Plant 11 as a Parts Inspector until he retired. James was a member of the UAW #662, the NRA and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He served in the United States Army as a PFC in the 6th Calvary. James enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, collecting guns and walking in the woods. He was also an avid reader.
James is survived by his children; Doug (Inez) Haygood, Charles “Chuck” Haygood both of Ingalls and April Haygood of Ft. Worth, Texas: 4 grandchildren; Katrina Haygood, Rikki Brooks, Kassie Haygood and Ryan Brooks; 3 great-grandchildren; Journey Brooks, Harley Brooks and Mila Ford: brother; David (Sylvia) Haygood as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his former wife; Darlene (Wiseman) Haygood, daughter; Valerie Rose Haygood, father Leslie Haygood, mother Dorothy (Hilligoss) Thompson, step-father Charles Thompson and siblings; Noah, Edward, Donald Lee Haygood, Norma Jean Denger, Clara Mae Sewell and Martha Schoolcraft.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday March 8, 2021 at Seals Funeral Home 122 W. Staat St in Fortville. A graveside service will be on Monday March 8, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville with military rites.
