James W. McClammer Obituary
James W. McClammer, 84, of Fortville, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born March 23, 1941, in Greenfield to Everett W. and Orpha L (Young) McClammer.
Jim was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 662. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and making furniture. Jim also had a passion for collecting Case knives and took great pride in his growing collection. More than anything, Jim treasured the time he shared with his grandsons and great‑grandchildren. Whether he was teaching them about the outdoors, telling stories, or simply enjoying their company, those moments brought him his greatest happiness. His love for his family, his steady presence, and his many talents will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Jim graduated from Greenfield Central High School and graduated from Lain Drafting College in Indianapolis. He retired from Delco Remy after more than 30 years of dedicated service, where his hard work and loyalty were evident to everyone who knew him. Beyond his career, he found tremendous purpose in serving his community. He was a proud Hancock County Reserve Deputy, earning the honor of “Reserve Officer of the Year” in 1984. His commitment and leadership later led to his appointment as “Captain of the Reserves,” a role he carried with great pride. He truly loved being a reserve deputy—serving others wasn’t just something he did; it was a part of who he was. His dedication, integrity, and passion for helping his community will always be remembered.
Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Bodkin) McClammer whom he married June 12, 1960, son Dennis W. McClammer of Ingalls, Lori (Randy) Kendrick of Fortville, grandchildren Cody (Ashton) Kendrick, Casey (Emily) Kendrick, great-granddaughter Blayne Kendrick, great grandsons Owen and Parker Kendrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above.
