Obituary

James Elbert Moody, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in Indianapolis. He was born March 23, 1935, in Leoma, TN to Henry and Versie (Dailey) Moody. He attended Center School in Haleyville, Alabama. Elbert was a member of the Fortville Church of the Nazarene and the United Auto Workers Union. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in Maintenance in 1983. Elbert also served as a Deputy Sheriff for 9 years in Alabama.

Elbert is survived by wife Bertha J. (Pinkard) Moody, whom he married May 4, 1953, sons: Royce D. (Susan) Moody of Lawrence, Terry (Jo) Moody of Ingalls; daughter: Wanda (Danny) Maxwell of Lawrence: 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral to celebrate Elbert’s life will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 1:30 pm at the Fortville Church of the Nazarene. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.  Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
