James “Jim” Harry Thomas, 72, of McCordsville passed away August 26, 2021, at his residence. He was born October 3, 1948, in Danville , KY to Catherine (Wathen) Cooley and the late James Robert Thomas.
Jim graduated from Jefferson Community College and attended the University of Louisville. Jim married the love of his life, Mary Cae McCandless on October 29, 1983. He worked for Liberty National Bank in Louisville for 26 years and Chase bank in Indianapolis for 8 as an Information Security Specialist until his retirement in 2005. He currently served as Deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Indianapolis, was past president for the IGMA (Indiana Gospel Music Association), served 15 years for DPMA (Data Processing Management Association) and served with the Covenant Food Pantry at Northside Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed riding his Harley Trike, his yearly poker tournament with the guys, and loved his four-legged furry friends, who adored him. But being a husband to Mary Cae and a father to Chris and Beth were his most cherished titles.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Cae; children: Chris (Jona) Thomas and Beth (Sam) Wilson; furry friends: Montana and Tabi; mother Catherine Cooley; Brothers: David (Melanie) Thomas, Tony (Gerri) Thomas and Phil Thomas; sister: Anita (Jerry) Fischer; mother-in-law, Bettie McCandless; and Brothers-in-law: Leo McCandless and Tom Lawson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Thomas; step-father, Harold Cooley; father-in-law Clay McCandless; brother-in-law Joseph McCandless; Furry friends: Duke, Buttermilk, Cheyene and Dakota and grandpuppy Lily.
The will hold a Celebration of Life for Jim on Thursday September 2, 2021 at 4:00pm at Northside Baptist Church 3021 E 71st St, Indianapolis, IN 46220 with Pastor Jeremy Couture officiating. The family will receive guests from 2:00-4:00PM at the church.
