Jesse Robert Cook

Jesse Robert Cook, 83, of Fortville, passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2026. Born on November 10, 1942, in Fortville, he was the son of Vernon and Doris (Chappell) Cook.

Jesse honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to Delco Remy, retiring in 1993. He was a proud member of U.A.W. Local 1963, Fortville American Legion Post 391, and Fortville VFW Post 6904.

Jesse enjoyed spending countless hours watching and reading Westerns. He had a deep appreciation for history and enjoyed spending time learning about the people, places, and events that shaped the past. Jesse also found great enjoyment outdoors, especially while fishing, metal detecting, and bottle hunting. Whether searching for hidden treasures or casting a line in a favorite fishing spot, he appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the stories connected to the past.

He is survived by his children, MSgt Jeffrey D. Cook, USAF (Ret.) (Claudia), Dana Frye (Gaylen), and Deanna Neuharth (CMSgt Terry Neuharth, USAF (Ret.)); his grandchildren, Terri Leffas, Karri Low, Richard Neuharth, Jordan Neuharth, Taylor Neuharth, and Matthew Neuharth; nine great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dennis Small.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

A celebration of Jesse's life will be on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Fortville American Legion Post 391, 207 S. Merrill Street, Fortville, with military honors at 6:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fortville American Legion Post 391.
