Joanne H. (Marquart) Gamache

Joanne H. Gamache, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Community Hospital North.  She was born March 16, 1933 in Perley, Minnesota to Joseph and Hazel (O’Day) Marquart.  Joanne graduated from North Dakota State University where she was active as a Gamma Phi Beta   She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fortville, played piano and enjoyed music and sewing. 

Joanne was a teacher at the high schools in Cooperstown and Breckenridge, North Dakota. She worked at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa and most recently taught kindergarten at La Petit Academy in Indianapolis.

Joanne is survived by husband Gene Gamache, whom she married June 11, 1956; children: Laurie J. Gamache of Manhattan, NY; Mary L. Gamache of Fortville and Gene M. (Lindsay) Gamache of Burbank, CA; grandchildren: Lauren, Remy and Louie Gamache; sister: Janet (Julien) Richard of Fargo, ND as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Marquart.

Friends may call on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Fortville.  Cremation will follow mass.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the S.O.A.R.
