Joyce (Spitzmesser) Brown

Joyce Brown, 94, of Greenfield, formerly of Fortville passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born December 15, 1927, in Grant County, Indiana to Ira and Ethel (Dickerson) Spitzmesser. Joyce was a graduate of Elwood High School and a homemaker.  She was a member of the former Bridge Church in Fortville.

Joyce is survived by children Yvonne of Pendleton, Clifford “Bud” (Julie) Brown of Greenfield, Marie VanHorn of Indianapolis, Paul (Kim) Brown of Fortville; 10 grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandsons as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff Brown, parents, granddaughter Michelle Brown, grandson Mitchell VanHorn, siblings Noel Spitzmesser, Joan Ford, Carmen Bauner and Carolyn Shephard and son-in-law Mark VanHorn.   

A funeral to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.  Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
