June Ellen (Cannaday) Wood

June Ellen Cannaday Wood, 87, of Fortville, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home. She was born March 18, 1932 in Hamilton County, IN to the late Robert and Iris (Barnard) Cannaday.  June was a 1950 graduate of the old Fortville High School and a member of the Fortville Christian Church.  She retired from Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation in 1994.  June was the Mt. Vernon High School cafeteria manager for 20 years.  She had also worked at the old Western Electric plant and L.S. Ayres.

June is survived by son Scott C. Wood of Fortville; daughter Amy (Ted) Stauffer of Zionsville; grandchildren: Travis, Austin, and Bridget Stauffer, Heidi White; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Carys, Waverly and Reagan; siblings: Tom (Myrna) Cannaday, Marilyn (Harold) Schneider, Joyce Clark and Larry Cannaday.  She was preceded in death by her husband Gene W. Wood, daughter Linda Jo White, great grandchild Kennedy Colleen Stauffer and two siblings Barbara Rafert and Dale Cannaday.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.  A celebration of June’s life will begin at 12:00 noon.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Indiana Audubon Society 3499 S Bird Sanctuary Rd. Connersville, Indiana 47331 or the Alzheimer’s Association 9135 N.
