Lafayette E. Shultz, Jr. 91, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at his home. He was born April 24, 1931, in Houston, Texas to Lafayette E. and Gertrude A. (Newhart) Shultz. Lafe was a member of the Model “A” Club of Alexandria and had been a Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master. He graduated in 1950 from the old Fortville High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. Lafe retired in 1987 as an electrician from Delco-Remy after 37 years’ service.
Lafe is survived by; grandchildren: Nicolette (Andy) Kremer, Scott Shultz, Lucas (Christina) Shultz, Jake (Ashlee) Shultz and Kristin (Derrick Johnson) Wadley: 4 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Gene Wadley and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Shultz, children Derrid Shultz, Garrid “Gee” Shultz and Tammy Wadley, grandson Mitch Wadley, his parents and sister Joan Kroeckel.
A memorial service to celebrate Lafe’s life will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday January 13, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 pm until the time of service.
