Leo J. Seghetti, 99, of Fishers, passed away April 1, 2020 at his home. He was born May 6, 1920 in North Judson, IN to Modesto and Iole (Grazzini) Seghetti. Leo served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was First Lieutenant in Field Artillery, 29th Division. He served as a combat liaison and reconnaissance officer. Leo was awarded the Bronze Star, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 battle stars, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Ribbons, Army of Occupation Medal for Germany, French Normandy Jubilee Party Medal and the French Legion of Honor Medal.
Leo was the co-founder and partner of the North Judson True Value Hardware Store, retiring in 1982. He was active in the North Judson community. He was a member of the North Judson American Legion Post #92, the 40 & 8 Voiture #1742, Past President of the North Judson School Board, Past President of the North Judson Chamber of Commerce, a member of S.S. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Order of Foresters and the VFW Post #748 in Knox, IN.
Leo is survived by daughters: Joanne (husband Tom) Stadler of Fortville and Nancy (husband Dan Hebble) Seghetti of Centenial, CO; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve (Facenda) Seghetti, his parents and brother Nello “Nick” Seghetti.
Due to the Governor’s Executive Order a caring cremation will take place. A memorial mass will be celebrated in North Judson after the Executive Order is no longer in place.
