Madelon Ward Obituary

Madelon L. Ward, 77, of McCordsville, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, in Fishers, IN.  She was born September 18, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN to Davey and Janie (Halliburton) Thomas.  Madelon was a 1961 graduate of the old Fortville High School and retired from the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation after more than 20 years’ service.  She retired as the secretary of Mt. Vernon High School and had also been at Teacher’s Assistant at Mt. Comfort Elementary.  Prior to working at Mt. Vernon, Madelon worked at the Fortville branch of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Madelon loved her Euchre Club.  Her and her friends lived for those evenings as much for the food and fellowship as they did the high stakes $2 game.  She enjoyed eating out (especially when she could choose the venue), all sports,  and spending time with her beloved life long partner, Kenny.  One of their daily rituals was watch Pat and Vanna on The Wheel of Fortune.  The thing that Madelon loved most was watching her grandchildren participate in sports and spending time with family.

Madelon is survived by her husband Kenny Ward, whom she married April 4, 1975, sons: Trent (Lisa) Ward of Noblesville, Roy Ward of Fishers; grandchildren: Karstyn Ward, Royce Ward, McLayne Ward, Casey Ward, Bryce Ward, Matthew Parsons, Lindsey (Tory) Owens, Emily and Ethan Richardson; great-grandchildren Rylan and Emory; sisters: Jo Ellen (Jerry) Winkler of Shelbyvile and Lynn Shaw of Fortville; nieces Lia Comp and Wendy Shaw; nephew Adam Winkler.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville.  A funeral service to celebrate Madelon’s life will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11:00 am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
