Martin A. Berling, 72, of Fortville, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 13, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marty was a 1971 graduate of Mariemont High School in Cincinnati and retired as Vice-president of Sales from Defenders Security.
Marty was a devoted husband who loved his kids and grandchildren. Jesus and his family was his pride and joy. He was a Jeep enthusiast and loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. Marty enjoyed yardwork and was a big supporter and volunteer at the Wheeler Mission. He enjoyed serving his community and people. People described Marty as humble, selfless, kind, supportive and encouraging.
Marty is survived by his wife Esther (Crawford) Berling, whom he married March 6, 1989, in Covington, Kentucky, children: Nate (Caitlin) Berling, Adam (Lexy) Berling and Emily (Alex) Molloy,
grandchildren Brayden, Evelynn, Lucas, Brantley, Kinsley and Audrey; sister Linda (partner Bob) Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Berling and Margaret (Stamp) Heitzler.
A memorial visitation for Marty will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home 122 W. Staat Street Fortville, IN 46040.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Marty’s name be made to the Wheeler Mission 205 E. New York Street Indianapolis, IN 46204.
