Max Griffey Obituary

Max L. Griffey, 85, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Indianapolis. He was born January 6, 1935 in Madison County, IN to Calvin L. and Ruth A. (Cassidy) Griffey.  Max retired from General Motors as a carpenter in 1992.  He was also a brick mason working with his brother Richard and other family members. 

Max was a graduate of the old Fortville High School, a member of Cyntheanne Christian Church as well as taught clog, line and tap dancing.  He was a member of the Oasis Time Steppers and served in the Indiana National Guard. 

Max is survived by his wife Judy (Dillman) Griffey; sons: David C. (Mary) Griffey, Daniel L. (Vicky) Griffey, Doug A. (Debby) Griffey all of Fortville and Donald S. (Melanie) Griffey of Pataskala, OH; daughters: Jacquelyn J. (Ken) Shepherd of Fishers, Libby G. (Steve) Gipson of Fortville and Julie A. (Chris) Hansen of Greenfield; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Siblings: Ruth Ann (David) Brooks, Susan Goodman, Mary (Robert) Chastain, Pamela (Greg) MacCallister; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by, his parents, sisters Cynthia Cole, Karen Ingvoldstad, brother Richard Griffey and infant brother David Griffey.

In accordance with Max’s wishes, cremation has taken place followed by burial at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private family memorial service to celebrate Max’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 am at Cyntheanne Christian Church 13151 Cyntheanne Rd, Fishers, IN 46037.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Parkinson's Foundation 14350 Mundy Dr #800, Noblesville, IN 46060.
