Michael Joseph Smith

Michael “Mike” Joseph Smith, 57, of Fortville, passed away on May 21, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1968, in Indianapolis to Stephen and Sandy (Miller) Smith.  On October 17, 1992, Michael married his sweetheart, Natalie (Dolson) Smith.  Together, they were blessed with three (3) children: Brayton, Makenzy, and Brody.

Michael graduated from Connersville High School in 1986, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 1993  He was a proud brother of the Butler University Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.   Michael worked for the State of Indiana Department of Corrections Health Services Division as a Quality Assurance Manager.  He loved golfing and was a member of the Maple Creek Golf & Country Club.  Michael was fascinated by Bigfoot (Sasquatch), and always talked of going on adventures to track down the mysterious creature.  A dedicated and devoted father, he cherished his children and took great pride in coaching a variety of sports.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Natalie (Dolson) Smith and their children: Brayton (Alexandria) Smith, Makenzy Smith, and Brody Smith.  Michael is also survived by his father and step-mother, Stephen and Jeanna Smith; brother, Daniel Smith; step-siblings, Brad (Ivy) Wilhelm and Kristy (Mac) McCauley; mother-in-law, Janet Dolson; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sandy (Miller) Smith.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at Seals Funeral Home, located at 122 W. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040, on May 30, 2025, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Michael’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m.  Cremation will take place following the service.
