Nellie Rosemary Swafford, 85, of Fortville, passed away on December 10, 2024, at home. She was born on August 24, 1939, to Paul and Lucy (Locey) Parisho in Columbus, Indiana.
She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and graduated twice from the Faith Bible Institute. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Indianapolis, a previous member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lapel, and a charter member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Pendleton. She was a former bus driver for Lawrence Township Schools. She was known to be a card shark, loved going to the beach, and loved and prayed for everyone she knew. She especially loved her dogs.
Nellie is survived by her children Ranel (Steve) Porter, Raymond Marcus (Julie) Swafford II, Rane (Ron) Vail, and Bryan Ramon Otto Swafford; grandchildren Chris (Lori) Trester, Ryan (Meghan) Trester, Veronica Vail, Victoria (Nathan) Johnson, Raymond Marcus Swafford III, and Vanden Vail; 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Esther Stacy, and sister in-law Sandy Parisho, and her dog Charlie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Marcus Swafford I, grandson Ben Seibert, daughter in-law Bethany Swafford, brothers Otto and Jack Parisho, and sister Shirley Rusher.
Friends may call on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 10701 E. 56th St., Indianapolis, IN 46235, from 12:30pm until 2:30pm. The funeral service for Nellie will begin at 2:30pm. At Nellie’s request a cremation service will take place following the funeral service.
