Phyllis H. (Mitchell) Searls

Phyllis H. (Mitchell) Searls, 92, of Kokomo, formerly of Fortville passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born July 1, 1927 in Pembine, WI to Carl and Bessie (Stroud) Hancher. Phyllis retired from the former Western Electric Plant in Indianapolis after 27 years’ service. She was a member of The Bridge Church, IBEW and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Phyllis enjoyed gardening and being outside.

Phyllis is survived by sons: Gary Gearhart of Willow Branch, Randy (Janette) Mitchell of Kokomo and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands Orval Mitchell and Noel Searls, Sr., son Stephen Gearhart, siblings Laverne Castor, Valerie “Connie” Little, Carl “Bud” Hancher, Jr., Barbara Ford and Kenny Hancher.

Due to the Governor’s Executive Order private family services will be held at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 5635 W. 96th Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46278. Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
