Ray D. Smith, 84, of Fortville, passed away April 3, 2022, at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born November 5, 1937, in Breathitt, Kentucky to Logan and Clara Marie (Taulbee) Smith. Ray retired from the former Wonder Bread company in Indianapolis. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage with anything mechanical and putting out a large garden.
Ray is survived by children: Ernie Smith of Ingalls and Carmie Ann (Richard) Ma of Harrison, OH, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; 12 siblings. He was preceded in death by daughter Darlene Heise, son Jimmy Smith, a grandchild, parents and several siblings.
A graveside funeral to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Gravel Lawn Cemetery with calling at the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
