Raymond E. Goins

Raymond E. Goins, 91, of Fortville, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, in Greenfield. He was born October 3, 1931, in Indianapolis to William and Stella (Haddicks) Goins. Ray worked for the American Legion National Headquarters for over 20 years as a master mechanic. Following his work at the American Legion, Ray retired from the YMCA as a maintenance worker.

Ray was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a life member of the Fortville VFW Post #6904, a member of the Fortville American Legion Post #391, the 40-8 Post #145 and the Marine Corps League. He served on the Fortville American Legion-VFW Posts Military Honors Team for many years. In his youth Ray was a Golden Gloves boxer. Later in life he enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to Blue Grass music, scrapbooking newspaper articles and watching NASCAR.

Ray is survived by son Michael Goins of Indianapolis, grandchildren: Lisa (Kevin) Marsh of Indianapolis and Michael Goins of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren Sara (Andrew) Brummitt, Sebastian Perkins and Mikayla Goins; great-great grandchildren Andrew and Aiden Brummitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above and siblings Margaret, Mary, Dorothy and Bill.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A graveside committal with Military Honors of Ray’s cremated remains will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
