Rebecca “Becky” C. (Redmon) Irvin, age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wed., Jan. 29, 2020 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. She was born on March 19, 1941 to the late Joe and Helen Redmon in Columbus, Ind. She was the oldest of two children, survived by Roberta “Bobbi” Speaker of Seymour, Ind. Becky married the late Frank Irvin in 1996 and is survived by her two children, Holly Northam of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Joel Cheesman (Christine) of Indianapolis, as well as seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Becky took joy from her stepchildren too and was preceded in death by Frank Jr. and Laura and survived by Rose Brutley (Albert), Jacqueline Hatcher, D’Ella Irvin, D’Anne Irvin, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1959, Franklin College (B.S.) in 1963 and Spalding University (M.Ed.) in the early ‘70s. She worked as a counselor at Jeffersonville High School from 1979 - 1997. She worked tirelessly for the good of her students, and she never met a four-legged friend she didn’t love. She also enjoyed the simple things in life, including rooting for the Louisville Cardinals, reading a good crime novel or Western, spending quality time with grandkids and drinking a good glass of wine. She also had a particular weakness for the Hallmark Channel, QVC and ice cream. The surviving family will be having a Celebration of Life Service in the spring in Columbus, Ind.
