Rev. Woodrow Alley, 88, of Kokomo, formerly of Ingalls passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021. He was born April 10, 1933, in Liggett, KY to Woodrow and Verily (Hensley) Alley. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War.
Woodrow founded and pastored the Ingalls Church of God (now REAL Community Church) for over 28 years. He was a State Evangelist for the Church of God in Indiana for 15 years. Rev. Alley remained active in preaching, having conducted his last sermon on October 31,2021, at the Woodland Church of God. He was most known to quote the word of God. The Tuesday before he passed he was quizzing his children and grandchildren about scripture from his hospital bed. Rev. Alley could always be quoted as saying “The word of God is alive and well and will feed you when you are hungry. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and golf.
Woodrow is survived by wife: Mary (Kirkman) Alley whom he married on April 10, 2016, children: Timothy David (Pam) Alley of Pendleton, Randy Joe Alley of Indianapolis, Tammy Alley (Gene) Long of Tampa, FL, Woodrow (Jennifer) Alley III of Oaklandon, Michael Wayne (Tammy) Alley of Kokomo and Melody Lynn Fannin of Kokomo; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings: Joe (Pat) Alley of Chicago, Dennis (Dotty) Alley of FL, Kathleen Ball of KY, and Eunice Vickers of Pekin, IL.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Bobbie J. Alley in 2015, his parents, and son-in-law Chuck Fannin in 2020.
Friends may call on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4 to 8 pm at the REAL Community Church 528 N. Meridian Street Ingalls, IN 46048. A Celebration of Rev. Alley’s life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 12:00pm am at the church with Bishop Michael W. Alley and Rev. David Gosnell officiating. Additional calling will be held from 10am until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Woodland Church of God 3401 S. Webster Kokomo, IN 46902. Online condolences may be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
