Robert Clark Obituary

Robert J. Clark, Jr. 93, of McCordsville, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022.  He was born June 16, 1929, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to Robert J. and Thelma (Weakland) Clark.  Bob was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School and enlisted in the Air Force following graduation.  He proudly served his country for four years and then began his civilian career at McDonnell Aircraft Corporation. Bob retired as an engineer in Research and Development from AT & T (Bell Labs) in 1989. While working for AT & T Bob was granted 5 patents for his work. 

Bob was a busy volunteer.  He volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers of America on many of their philanthropic endeavors including Special Olympics and working with the Indiana School for the Blind.  Bob was a passionate skier and took 2 teams of Special Olympians to the International Special Olympics Winter Games. The first was in 1985 to Park City, UT and the second was in 1989 to Reno, NV and Lake Tahoe.  Bob also taught children at the Indiana School for the Blind to ski.  He was a ski instructor for 9 seasons in Vail, CO and was a trip leader for the Indianapolis Ski Club.  Bob also enjoyed camping, boating and waterskiing.  He enjoyed keeping up with technology and was always volunteering to assist those who were less fortunate.

Bob is survived by wife Sheila (Donaldson) Clark, whom he married June 7, 1969, son Rob (Rosa) Clark of Fortville, William (Barbara) Clark of Black Diamond, WA and daughter Deanne (Daniel) Seligman of Tucson, AZ, grandson Jonathon Clark, step-granddaughter Jennifer (Kevin) Hartman, great-grandchildren Chloe and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Weakland and sister Shirley Hill.

A visitation to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Burial will take place at Juniata Memorial Park in Lewistown, PA.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions in Bob’s name be made to Special Olympics Indiana 6200 Technology Center Dr #105, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
