Robert L. Hart

Robert L. (Bob) Hart, age 90, of McCordsville, Indiana went to be with the Lord and his Savior Jesus Christ on September 4, 2022. He was born March 29,1932 in Anderson, Indiana, graduated from Lapel High School in 1952 and later Anderson University in 1972. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army and returned to Anderson to marry his lifelong partner Marilyn L. (Owens) Hart on June 30, 1957. He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 33 years of service. Bob was an active member of the Anderson Jay Cees, he designed and built sets for area theatre productions and he was very involved with both St. Matthew United Methodist Church and the McCordsville United Methodist Church. He was very accomplished at caning chairs and was sought out for his skills. He supported many charitable causes and was known as a man of integrity who could always be counted on for sage advice. He and Marilyn frequently went on Nomad mission trips throughout the country serving others. Their world travels were especially memorable with friends known as the “Fab 6.” He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan and enjoyed watching college softball games and all forms of motorsports. Bob was very proud to be an American and enjoyed being able to take part in an Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2017.

Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 65 years, Marilyn, daughter Roxanna (Larry) O’Bryant, son Robert (Saran) O. Hart, son Ned Hart, brother Leo Hart and six grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on September 12, 2022 at the McCordsville United Methodist Church 6247 W. Broadway McCordsville, Indiana at 12:00 pm. Friends may call at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service.  A graveside service with military honors will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the McCordsville United Methodist Church P.O.
