Ruthelma (Chappell) Flanagan

Ruthelma Flanagan, 100, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Pendleton. She was born March 17, 1923, in McCordsville, Indiana to Emmett and Ada Marie (Kinnaman) Chappell.  Ruthelma was a member of the Fortville Christian Church, Fortville Business and Professional Women and worked at Strough’s Supermarket for over 50 years.

Ruthelma is survived by son David L. (Cynthia) Flanagan of Anderson, daughter-in-law Connie Flanagan; grandchildren Sherri (Ken) Plummer, Matt (Heather) Flanagan and Erin Cain; great-grandchildren Cody Plummer, Morgan Flanagan, Liam Flanagan, Alyssa Cain and Ryan Cain; great-great granddaughter Aria Plummer and sister Vera Martin of Fortville. She was preceded in death by her husband Laurence Flanagan in 1979 and son William “Bill” Flanagan in 1993.

A funeral to celebrate Ruthelma’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Memorial contributions may be made to  the Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. 200 West, Fortville, IN 46040.
